| We
have been experiencing numerous calls and e-mails
relating to some computers not shutting down
properly. Whilst this issue is not a major issue,
given the amount of product in the market-place, we
would like to help educate people ask to reasons why
their computer does not shut down.
There are many reasons for this, such as hardware
(incompatible cards in computer systems) and software
(drivers, versions of programs, the way certain programs
have been installed, and more). A particular
computer not shutting down does not mean that there is a
hardware fault with the computer.
All systems and notebooks are tested at the assembly
stage, prior to despatch and this issue, if it were
hardware related, would have been discovered and
rectified at this level prior to the customer's receipt
of the goods.
Try uninstalling the last hardware or software
installed prior to the system not shutting down.
Read the attached Microsoft Knowledge-Base Articles
relating to Windows 98 shut down issues to try to
identify the cause of your problem.
